These poems I wrote myself
A Salmon's Life
You are a newborn salmon, so slim, so sleek,
Born from the parents, you branch out to others.
As you did from your parents, they branch from you.
Soon you are alone you have lost your family and friends.
Tire comes of swimming so long
While waiting for a return.
The stream will pull you until you let go,
And once you let go you get swept up in the current.
After many curves and coils,
After many twists and turns,
You arrive at the pond,
And sink into its depths.
The dark pond fills with shadows,
And watches your every move.
You feel confined under these shadows.
Under these stares of hatred you feel restrained.
Squeezing your breath out of your lungs,
They are sadistically waiting for the last.
Escape is your only option,
The only path is to return home.
You dart up the stream with speed,
With hungry eyes watch you leave.
You make it back to you home,
And see the spirits of your past
Death stares you in the face,
But worse, through your mother’s eyes.
In that moment your spirit releases,
Your body lets go of life.
Your empty carcass floats, once again, down the stream.
Without any struggle against,
You sink to the bottom of the dark pond.
Shadows consume your body leaving nothing but bones.
So to was I spreading to new friends and being left,
So to was I observed by the ghastly face of Death,
So to am I a lifeless, worthless body,
Doomed to wander this pit of darkness forever.
River of Emotions
You are the stream,
Slow but fierce.
You fill with the rain,
The sky's own tears.
Soon the fishes swim in you,
Their joy and sorrow with you combine.
Then bears strike at your fish,
Their anger and indifference with you are entwined.
Now the people come to adore you,
Some of their accidents create good memories.
Eventually those memories float upon you,
like your current carrying many lillies.
With that you become a river,
So mighty and so swift.
You hold an abundance with you,
life is caught in your drift.
